Mehrdad Seyf, the Iranian director of the play, ‘Plastic’, inspired by stories of Iranian men undergoing sex-change surgery, was told that as a result of the production coming to London this month (after a sensational reception in Edinburgh in summer 2008) it is not safe for him to travel back to his homeland.
